Biographical Summary
Dr. Robert J. Awkward currently directs a state-wide learning outcomes assessment program at the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education. The mission of the learning outcomes assessment program is to advance and deepen the culture of assessment throughout public higher education in Massachusetts and increase student learning outcomes. Robert also serves as a visiting professor and program coordinator and advisor for the Master's in Human Resources program at Framingham State University. In this role, he teaches Foundations of Human Resource Management; Business Ethics; Theories of Managing Organizations; and Seminar in Human Resource Management, the capstone course for the program. Robert is also a tenured professor of business administration (currently on leave) at Middlesex Community College.
Prior to his roles in higher education, Robert enjoyed progressive, diverse and successful human resources management and consulting experiences in varied industries including retail, manufacturing, high technology, professional services, healthcare and non-profits.
Finally, Bob was graduated with a B.A. in Political Science and a M.S. in Economic Policy & Planning from Northeastern University; a M.Ed. in Human Resources Development from Boston University; and a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
