My broad research background includes neuroscience, big data, active learning. All of these have led me to believe that students and teachers can co-create learning materials, and that this approach, when well-implemented, is better for learners. I'm now applying design research methods to how we might co-create learning.

I believe deeply in consent, ethical scholarship, and equity. I live on stolen land, and seek every day to play a part in re-connecting it with wise intergenerational stewardship. I believe Open Education unites all this work. In my day job, I'm an Educational Technology Director with UW, trying to help create better learning experiences for learners, particularly focused on active learning technologies.

In my spare time, I enjoy literature, with a focus on poetry and literary criticism. I write short fiction, poetry, and (wrote) a guide to well-made clothes. I'm interested in things being made well, deep collaboration, consent, and human rights. It's my biggest long-term dream to be part of an intentional community focused on co-creation of learning.
